Updated Wednesday morning Forecast and WX notes — August 31st, 2016

A couple different batches of showers and thunderstorms will move through this morning and afternoon. The northern half of Vermont will be most affected but southern areas could see some isolated showers/storms later on this afternoon.

Thunder-Dog Index about a “5” with pets most sensitive to thunder.

A cold front triggering this activity will track out of the region tonight. Some leftover moisture Thursday and again Friday may produce a few sprinkles.

Labor Day Weekend looking real good with perfectly dry conditions, starting out cool but gradually warming into the low 80s by Labor Day Monday.

Tropics remain rather active but no local threats. We’ll have to watch a tropical cyclone that is currently headed for N. Florida and will track along the Carolina coast then out to sea, but even close enough to Cape Cod to throw back northern fringe clouds and perhaps a few showers but for the most part out to sea…

TODAY: Considerable cloudiness and muggy. Occasional showers, perhaps a thunderstorm or two…with some producing locally heavy rainfall across northern areas. A high in the mid to upper 70s. Light west to southwest breeze.

TONIGHT: A leftover shower/thunderstorm or two exiting, giving way to partial clearing. A low around 60. Light west to northwest breeze.

THURSDAY: Partly sunny. Slight chance for a mountain sprinkle. A high in the low 70s. Light northwest breeze.

Looking further ahead…

THURSDAY NIGHT: Becoming mostly clear. Patches of valley fog. A low in the mid 50s.

FRIDAY: Mixed clouds and sun with widely scattered brief sprinkles. A high near 70.
